Background
Spore walls are very tough: intact spores can pass through the gut unchanged
Doctors in Thailand reported that after a patient took a lingzhi product containing spores, large numbers of structurally intact spores appeared in the stool, with the outer wall, inner wall and germ pore all clearly visible. This shows that intact spore walls are hard for the body to digest.
Doctors’ case reportDescribes individual patients and flags what deserves attentionHow the study was done
Under the microscope, the doctors compared the spores in the stool with the product the patient had taken; their shapes matched.
What the researchers say
This also suggests that whether spore powder is may affect how its components are released.
