Background
Is the lingzhi studied in papers the same species we take?
Taxonomic research has found that the red lingzhi traditionally used in China is very likely a different species from Ganoderma lucidum, which was first named in Europe; the Chinese red lingzhi has been proposed as Ganoderma lingzhi. Many papers still use the name lucidum.
