How to take lingzhi, and how much

The Chinese Pharmacopoeia sets the dose of lingzhi fruiting body at 6 to 12 g a day. Common methods: chop the fruiting body and simmer it in water, re-boiling the residue 3 times or until it no longer tastes bitter; or chop it and steep it in Chinese liquor (baijiu) of about 50% alcohol for 15 to 20 days. Fruiting-body decoctions or liquor are taken at 6 to 12 g a day (raw material) in two doses; spore-powder decoctions at 3 to 5 g a day in two doses. For lingzhi medicines and health foods, follow the instructions on the label.
